Lovely antique circa 1910s Edwardian era 10k yellow gold garnet doublet ring! This beautiful solitaire ring features a green garnet and glass doublet in a raised basket style setting. There are split open metal style shoulders, and the shank is free of design. A fantastic piece of fine antique jewelry, featuring a beautiful green stone!

METAL / MATERIAL - 10k yellow gold, one green garnet glass doublet

A doublet is a composite gemstone made up of two parts, often a less expensive material such as glass and another stone (often a gemstone). This man-made method was common of the era because it was less expensive than using an entire natural gemstone.

MARKINGS / HISTORY - Inside of band is marked "OB 10k" for Ostby and Barton. Ostby (Co-owner of company) was a first class passenger on the Titanic & was among one of the 1,500 passengers who perished during the tragic iceberg collision.The company was established 1879 in Providence, Rhode Island. At it's time, it was considered one of the leading producers of fine jewelry. The company ceased production in the 1950s. Ostby & Barton jewelry is highly desired by collectors of fine antique jewelry for its beautiful workmanship & historical significance.

CONDITION - Good antique condition. Yellow gold metal has been professionally polished & cleaned. Age appropriate patina & wear remains. Garnet glass doublet is securely prong set with some age appropriate wear. Amazing antique garnet doublet ring!
